I’ve been very happy with this, found it easy to consume by just breaking off a piece and dissolving in my mouth–it’s not gourmet food, but I found the taste tolerable enough. I take it conjunction with CoQ10 as it’s supposed to increase the absorption of that according to the Life Extension Foundation–and they now include it in their CoQ10. I just received my first shipment of this product today and this review is more on the product packaging than the quality or effects of the product because I’ve only had one dose so far. But I will say I took the recommended amount under my tongue and the taste was horrible, it tasted very very earthy and I might take my other doses just by swallowing them and not dissolving them. I can’t imagine drinking this as a tea. As you can see from the pictures the small tin came in a large plastic bag, inside the large plastic bag was a smaller plastic bag and inside the smaller plastic bag was the tin and inside the tin was a smaller plastic container with the black tar like product. It’s very interesting packaging, I don’t understand what the tin is for. When I opened the small plastic container it was very difficult to open because the black tar had basically glued it all together. The substance is not sticky it seemed to have a hard skin and was pliable. If the product works as well as the manufacturer claims then I will be very happy despite the strange packaging. As a sidenote Amazon prime was a day late as usual.

I’m sorry that I’m about to speak so poorly about a competing product but everyone should know what’s up .What motivated me to finally review this product after using it for over a year is the fact that I attempted to jump ship to another brand to save a few bucks. After seeing all of the positive reviews for pur black shilajit I thought I should see if it works.I feel that it’s important someone finally wrote a nasty review about pur black because with all the clever packaging and excellent reviews and marketing even I was duped into trying it. Well, it turns out that Pur Black is not Shilajit!!! It is Mineral Pitch from Siberia, and it does not provide me with any noticeable shift in energy like Upakarma Shilajit does. It actually doesn’t do anything for me but taste even worse than real shilajit(didn’t know that was possible)Man that stuff is total garbage, I’m sorry but it just is. The consistency and flavor are so different and it does not provide any noticable energy boost or reduction in inflammation whatsoever. I’m wondering if I had tried pur black first if maybe I would have experienced at least some effects but regardless at this point I’m spoiled, Upakarmas is the best of the real shilajit that I’ve tried. That siberian dirt in a jar called pur black on the other hand is pur garbage and should not even be allowed to be called shilajit.

This is a quality product. I feel very calm. Not my normal anxious self. I just feel at ease. Worth noting, I also take a multi-vitamin, Neuro Optimizer (brain supplement) and Runa organic energy drink. So I’m not sure what’s doing what right now. I will say this however, none of those other supplements have induced such calm, which I would have to attribute to the Shilajit. I like it.

I have sampled a few other brands of resin. I am still in the process of trying them all. This is by far the cleanest shilajit I have tried by far. It has a subtle power that builds up the more I have of it. It’s not a miracle overnight cure but I think it does work. You don’t get a very large amount for the money but considering the rarity of the actual substance and the lengths these people go to collect and process it, I think the price is actually worth it. The small amount you get of 10 grams can be deceiving but at the same time it doesn’t take much to notice some effects. It takes roughly five days for the effects to build for me. If you have a gram scale you can measure out a once daily dose of 0.33 grams which will makes the vial last 30 days. To make it last 60 days you would have to split that. To get any noticeable effects, I have to take at least 0.25 grams per day. I think a person probably has to be seriously committed to stick with shilajit to notice the benefits long-term. This may not not be the absolute best there ever was, but I have yet to try anything better. I would recommend it for those in need of rebuilding their core energy due to depletion from various causes. There are several other brands selling poor quality shilajits and I know this from personal experience. Most people who try this I think would be satisfied with it. To be sure of the effect, try taking one gram in a days time. I tried that and within 24 hours later I experienced a great sense of wellbeing. At this rate though a 10gm container would not be lasting more than 10 days and would wind up being an extremely expensive supplement. I think it’s better to look at it as more of a long term form of health insurance that supports overall wellbeing in collaboration with a healthy lifestyle instead of a quick fix for chronic conditions.

I am really enjoying this product. It is energizing! Inside of this tin is a much smaller plastic tub that contains the product. I subtracted a point because it did not come in a glass jar. The product tastes smokey and is quite thick. I enjoy it under my tongue or in a cup of al tea. I heat it up slightly with my tea cup to make it easier to dip out. It came with a tiny spoon, but the spoon broke quickly so I just use a toothpick. I use a rice size bit, taken on an empty stomach. It allows me to skip my morning coffee, which was very unexpected. I take it in the evening too, but it does not keep me awake. The effect is more dramatic in the morning, though. I have faith that it is doing all kinds of good things. I combine it with CoQ10 and ashwagandha.

I have researched this product and found the following. It contains a high amount of ionic trace minerals (85) along with fulvic acid which is a naturally occuring acid in dead organisms that greatly increases the bio-availibity of the minerals. When looking at the amount of testosterone boosting minerals in Shilajit, it was found that it increased serum testosterone levels by 23,5% in a controlled human study. I will continue to use this product as it is the black tar like substance that is easy to take in al tea and means that I can get rid of other mineral based items.

Greetings all. I have only been on this Shilajit for three days. Perhaps I should wait to comment, but I just can’t contain myself. And that is pretty much how I feel- uncontainable. Not to be confused with uncontrollable. 30 minutes after the first dose I noticed a feeling of expansion in my feet as if there was suddenly more circulation. Put the darn stuff in glass. It’s a good product but glass is the standard. GLASS PLEASE. Also I think you can increase the total amount. The company got back to me and explained why they use a high grade plastic instead of glass. They claim this is non leaching and easier to get the shilajit without sticking to the glass. Given I have other products from them that are of impeccable quality and in glass containers I will except their explanation for now. I have purchased purblack and it sticks to the glass and is definitely harder to work with. This is otherwise a great Shilajit. I will upgrade to 4 stars because I believe a bit more of this substance should be included. I’ll be buying more.

As an ayurvedic practioner I was very excited to find this product as quality Shilajit is difficult to come by in India, and limited overseas. While I cannot comment on its effectiveness yet, I can say the smell was very potent and authentic. The reason for my 3 star rating is I felt a bit deceived by the packaging. It appears the product comes in a standard size salve container, but upon delivery the amount received is smaller and housed inside the metal container. Though I know that Shilajit is a potent and scarce medicine, this made the sticker price seem high. I have experience Banyan’s Shiljait tablets and looking forward to using Upakarma’s purified resin as it is closer to the original form. Will check back in with a honest review.9/30/16 – After a few months of taking the resin Shiljait regularly, (I also used another brand) I can report back that this is incredible medicine! I take a pea sized portion daily with a tsp of LBH Chywanprash (which I also reviewed) and sips of hot water. As an Ayurvedic practioner I found the potency of the resin far superior to taking it in a dried form. As “vata dominant” person, I struggle with consistent energy levels and additionally run very low on iron. As other users have noted the Shiljait has given me very stable consistent energy, even on days when I skip taking it. I have increased my rating by one star however I still think that the sticker price on this is a bit high compared to other options on the market. However I believe the quality to be very good!

***Note… Quick update: I still take this when I feel a bit ‘dodgy’ along with other natural supplements, but I have moved on to other products (not available on Amazon). There is no negative reason for this, but I found some products that give me better results overall for immune support and energy. I still highly recommend giving this a try!This is going to be a long review – I’ll break it up in sections so anyone who reads it can skip the parts that aren’t relevant to them.**Tried 3 different brands**I started taking this in mid-October 2014. I’m addicted to this and for good reason. First let me say that I have also tried PurBlack brand and one on Etsy that was very cheap. All 3 smelled the same, had the same taste, and had the same daily results for me. I had all 3 at the same time and rotated them throughout the week to see if I could tell a difference. I couldn’t. I won’t buy the cheap version again, as I’m worried about why it’s so cheap (I’m paranoid). I prefer the one from Upakarma s because of the consistency. It’s easier to handle. I can get a small amount out, roll it in a ball and swallow it like a pill. With PurBlack, I have to dissolve it in water; consistency is a bit different, gooier. It’s not a big deal, but it takes 10-15 minutes and I’m usually in a hurry. I take it on am empty stomach in the morning, with other supplements (right now, fermented cod liver oil/butter oil blend, MegaFoods multi, and a couple times a week I add triphala and turmeric).**Initial reaction when taken**I am a highly sensitive person – that means that heat, coffee, medicine, supplements, and food seem to have a greater impact (usually negative) on me than others. That is important to know, because when I shared some of the supplement with 4 other people, no one else had my same reaction. They had a small reaction of overall feeling better, but nothing like I experienced. I started with PurBlack and my initial response as rather euphoric – it was seriously so magical that even though it tasted and smelled terrible I was drawn to it and wanted more all day long (I limited myself to 1-2 servings). I couldn’t believe how amazing I felt right after I took it. I had energy boost, and I just felt alive and amazing.**Background**A bit of background (feel free to skip); I work about 60 hours a week, working on my doctoral degree, I have twin preschoolers, and far too many interests and hobbies – I am one of those people who loves doing things; I rarely sit down to relax, no time for TV watching, etc. But I have been struggling to keep up with myself for the last 5 years. I never fully ‘recovered’ from having twins in 2011 – I’ve been exhausted ever since I was first pregnant and I knew my mineral levels were likely very low as I had a very rough pregnancy. I also had a very poor diet (lots of sugar and fast food) until the twins were born. Afterwards, I learned about proper nutrition, which changed my life (and my family’s), but I still needed something to help. I entered the world of natural supplements and homeopathy around 2012. I love to experiment. I have explored so many different supplements, remedies, Paleo, whole foods, juicing, smoothies, etc. It’s all wonderful, and eating as many veggies as possible really helped me feel so much better, but I still didn’t feel 100%.**What it has done for me**Besides giving me the energy boost that I really needed (w/no crash), it has helped with my blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia), psoriasis, boost in my mood, boost in my immune system in a huge way, I have better focus, clarity, and feel ‘alive’ or ‘whole’ – I’m not quite sure how to explain that last part. I feel like I’m functioning at 100% or at least near it on my bad days. I have struggled with hypoglycemia ever since I can remember. I’ve never been treated for it, but try to manage it on my own. I am sensitive to sugar, so when I don’t eat well, my mood suffers (I turn into a grouchy monster), I get tired/crash, and feel weak/shaky. It happens if I have too much coffee (usually more than 1 cup) or anything that is a stimulant. If I don’t eat very well (mostly organic produce, with some grass-fed/pastured meats) I suffer with signs of hypoglycemia. If I take shilajit first thing in the morning, I can eat whatever I want and have 2 pots of coffee (terrible, I know) without feeling any bad effects related to hypoglycemia. I have not been eating that well since I started on shilajit, as I like to use the holidays as an excuse to eat whatever I want 😉 I have started eating better recently and looking forward to seeing what shilajit will do with a better diet. However, thanks to shilajit, I haven’t suffered due to eating poorly (not much produce and too much pizza).The 2nd biggest reason why I can’t live without it is the boost it’s given my immune system. I was eating well until I got lazy a year ago, and started eating poorly. I ended up getting ill more times in 2014 than I have in nearly my entire adulthood (I’m in my late 30s). Part of that is having 2 young children who go to school who bring home a lot of germs 🙂 I work from home, so I don’t have to don’t get exposure from work. In 2014, I had the flu 2-3 times, several head colds, I ended up with bronchitis 3 times (never had it prior), etc. Since taking shilajit, the girls have been sick multiple times. If I get sick, I will have maybe one day where I don’t feel great (a bit run down), but recover quickly. A couple weeks ago both of my girls were fairly sick, and I woke up one morning with a raw/swollen throat. The next day my throat was better, but I had a very mild cold. It last for one day. The biggest difference is that I still have clarity and focus, unlike in the past where having a cold would really impact that area and make it difficult to work.**Why I can’t stop taking it**I tried to stop a couple of times – it’s expensive! I don’t like being dependent on any type of supplement. I just like to experiment and move on. However, for me, this is the most important supplement I take and I’ll take it as long as I can afford it. On the days I tried to stop, I felt jittery from having more than 1 cup of coffee, I had hypoglycemic episodes, I felt ‘okay’ but not 100%. It’s not worth it for me to stop, the negative effects of not taking this are too great for me.**Advice for others**I asked others to try this and some felt a mild effect, but no one thought it was worth the money and they couldn’t stand the taste and smell (not that you really taste it as you aren’t chewing on it). For me it’s a life changer, but none of the other people that tried it are like me – they don’t have the same issues that I do. So this may or may not be a ‘magical’ supplement for you – you will have to be willing to spend the money in order to try it out for yourself.Also, that euphoric-like feeling wore off after 3 months. One day it just stopped. I only had this product (Upakarma s) at the time, so I quickly bought PurBlack to see if that would give me the ‘feeling’ again. It didn’t. So I tried to quit altogether, thinking that it no longer was working for me, and got the same aforementioned negative results (sensitivity issues). I know it’s still working, but I also know that I may never get that ‘magical’ feeling again. That was just a bonus effect, so I’m okay with that, though it was wonderful while it lasted.**Bottom line**I cannot live without this supplement, but it’s certainly not for everyone. Just like all natural supplements – some are ‘magical’ and many do nothing, even if ‘everyone else’ swears by them. You have to find what your body needs and you will know it when you find it.

Update (03/30/2020): I don’t use their Shilajit anymore (I get it from Nepal directly), but I still use their “Authentic Chyawanprash” which is excellent too.When I was growing up(~8-12), my grand-mom had this al medicine box. Once in a while I used to sit down with her and learn more about the s she had. So every-time she opened the box, this peculiar smell used to ooze out. It’s no surprise to me that that smell was from the Shilajit!! That was like 20 years back in Nepal, where I was born and raised. Currently I’m in US and I am looking/re-discovering the things that I learned when I was growing up. Apart from other medicinal s, “Shilajit” was one of them. As a avid Amazon shopper, I searched it here. I was surprised to find “Powder” and even a Tablet Shilajit here, the shilajit that I saw when I was kid was black gooey substance.To cut to the chase,

I’ve ordered this in January and so far it is great. My teenage son and I take it and I can see improved energy levels in both of us. He participates in 4 to 5 hours of sports training a day and this gives him an energy boost and I think he has been recovering faster. As for me, I have less headaches and more energy. We take it in the morning and while it is not the best tasting supplement, it is kind of coffee like, you get used to it. I was very impressed with information and communication from Johann before and after ordering and I received the order really fast. I don’t know if this is related at all, but my son struggled with growth in height and in the last two months he grew over two inches. He also takes magnesium and zinc and maybe this is just a regular growth spurt, but coincidence or not, we are not stopping!

I just got it today….and tried it on my way home from the post office. A little background first…Intermittently lately I am getting this pinch in my SI joint that makes my legs feel like they are going to buckle under me. A couple times last night it grabbed and I had to stop suddenly and hold my hip/SI joint- felt like I was 80! Anyway, had a long drive today and that really didn’t help it to feel better as I suspect I’m having a bit of Sciatic irritation going on. Both of my legs felt achey with pain radiating down them. So, I didn’t even want to wait till I got home to try it. I pulled over and ripped open the package and got the tin out…surprised to find that there is yet another container within the container…a much smaller container. Wow, you really don’t get very much but, I used the little “spatula” tool that comes with it to get some out. (It is a tarry, sticky resin) and I put it directly under my tongue. Another wow…was surprised by the taste because I used to smoke, many years ago and it sort of reminded me of that…like sucking on a cigarette…I know this review is not sounding so positive just yet…stay with me. So I still had a few miles yet till I got home and it wasn’t very long before I realized that that radiating pain in my legs wasn’t there. Hmmm. As I drove on I noticed a bit of a heady sensation. Not in a bad way but just kind of a…lift. Sublte…but there. I have to admit the taste sort of concerned me, and I thought I’ve got to look at this more carefully when I get home because I want to make sure this is really safe. I’ve taken liquid mineral supplements before…some very salty tasting and one that was effective but tasted kind of like burnt log water. So this was different. Anyway, in my reading on their website and here as far as other reviews and questions answered. I will definitely keep taking and seeing how I feel. I just took a little more and it definitely has an effect, at this point it’s a bit difficult to put my finger on but that pinching is gone…I do feel perhaps a bit stronger/steady. I look forward to continuing to take this and see what happens. This is just day one so I’ll try to come back with an update.Oh, and I too was pleasantly surprised by the communication from Johann just after ordering. I saw a really willingness to be of service to help me understand more about it and have any questions answered. Got it in a very timely manner, which I was particularly glad of since I was/am eager to try it, so it was nice not to have to wait a long time to get it. Hope to have more for you later.

This is a very pure and strong shilajit. We call it “mumie” in Russia and it is a known ancient and widespread remedy (usually comes from Altai mountains). However… The Instructions concern me. Dissolve in hot water?? You shouldn’t mix it with tea or any hot liquids. Mumie (shilajit) loses its potency if heated above 40 Celsius. Just take it straight – under tongue is a good idea.

I’ve had extensive experience with a large number of different s, supplements and nootropics, including most of the known adaptogens. This product has proven an absolute staple of mine for the past three months, and I still have at least another week’s worth of the resin. The estimate of 1-2 months supply is definitely on the conservative side.The smell of this shilajit resin is interesting. I get none of the coffee associations mentioned here. Though I’m what you might call a perfumista, smell is still ultimately subjective. Still I’m baffled at how differently I perceive this substance. What I get is the pitch black scent of ink comingling with a smell of barnyard, resinous and somewhat bitter. There are undertones of hay and feces in there as well. It’s not a scent most would enjoy, but I find it extremely interesting and, for this reason, I enjoy it immensely. Another seller of shilajit agreed with my observations, but found a number of variations depending on where the shilajit came from, how (if at all) it was processed, and so on. This is one material that seems to have quite a bit of potential for variation in scent.The taste is bitter, yes, but if one sticks the resin directly on the tongue and quickly swallows with water, it becomes exceptionally easy to take. This is coming from someone who has trouble taking even slightly bitter powders.With shilajit, I get consistent focus and energy, a natural effect that exerts itself in a subliminal way. Although I felt shilajit to an extreme the first time I took it, I no longer actively perceive the effects – they’re always there working in the background, but they never assert themselves enough to become a distraction.I notice on days where I may not be eating so well, shilajit brings me back to a healthy state (the subjective feeling I perceive whilst healthy). When I’m eating well on shilajit, the synergy between the two brings me almost to peak performance every time. This includes both physical and mental tasks.I seem to have received subtle strength increases from shilajit, though I must emphasize that these effects weren’t all that strong. Creatine is much better for this purpose. Still, it’s nice to receive whatever boost you can get.Although my allergies are only mildly improved, I can say that I’m yet to get sick while using shilajit, even while almost everyone around me has gotten sick in some way.Overall, it’s not going to be the only adaptogen I take, but it’s easily the most valuable of all the adaptogens I’ve used, and perhaps all supplements in general. I’ll be ordering more without hesitation. Whether it’s worth it will depend on you. For me, $20-30 a month is an excellent value for the results I’ve seen. What shilajit can do, no other substance (supplement or no) has done for me.The only negative I’d mention (and it’s a very minor one) is that the scoop contained with the order is useless for scooping out tiny amounts of resin. I’d suggest having a tiny metal scooper of a similar size on hand as a replacement. The product itself is of impeccable quality.I suspect it may take well over a year to truly grasp all that shilajit can do. This is a complex supplement that takes time to understand. Be patient, take it consistently and you’ll be rewarded for your efforts.

This is the first time I’ve tried Shilajit, though I’d read about it last year and have wanted to try it. I was not disappointed! I did take longer to review this product, for a very important reason. When I’d first started using it, it had all of the great effects that I’d hoped. More energy, clearer skin, I felt really healthy and it took away any bloated feelings in my tummy. Then it seemed like it wore off or became less effective. Though my skin stayed really clear and healthy looking. I changed how I took it and was dissolving it in really hot tea. So it’s very important to remember that shilajit loses its effectiveness if it is heated too hot. In my research it should not be heated above 104 degrees F. When I realized that I changed to cold tea, and all of the benefits re-appeared. It does not smell very good, and I did try dissolving the recommended amount under my tongue and lasted about 20 seconds, because it does not taste very good. But if you dissolve it in water it isn’t that bad, and when I dissolve it in my tea (not hot) I can’t taste it at all. The benefits from this shilajit far outweigh the taste and smell. As I said before, I have beautiful looking skin and triple the energy I had. I have lost weight, and my abdomen no longer feels bloated. I can’t 100 percent claim the weight loss is from the shilajit, because I switched my workout routine from weights to more cardio, but I’m positive it helped the effectiveness of the change. After an initial reaction (first 2 days of use) that ressembled an allergic reaction (mainly sneezing and some irritation in the throat), it looked that I would have to abandon the use of this shilajit product. But I perservered. The third day, I lessened the amount taken in and all went well. Now, the 4th day, I again took a bigger dose (and solved it in hot, but not boiling, water) and I feel great. Calm, concentrated, with plenty of positive energy. My gut (a “target organ” in my case) is doing great too. Fantastic.

I give Authentic Shilajit 5 stars for product and effect and 3 stars for packaging.After overcoming my frustration about getting to the product I used the tip of asharp knife to remove a rice grain size bit and dissolved it in my morning ginger/lemon/jaggery tea. This was preceded by 1 teaspoon on Chyawanprash (madeby the same company). I was energetic the whole day and had no need for food.I’ve read the one star reviews, my experiences are to the contrary. They all seem toto have the same tone. It’s hard to know what reviewer’s motivations are. I hopeothers benefit from this product as I did.

I received the Shilajit for free in exchange for my honest review. I have been using shilajit for over 3 weeks. Before I started using it I was working 12 hour shifts at a warehouse and was feeling drained and like I wanted to quite. So I started using shilajit at first I use it right out of the container it was a little bit larger than the size of a grain of rice. I put it under my tongue. The taste was really strange and left a unpleasant taste in my mouth so the next day I put it in a warm cup of tea and it was much better you couldn’t even tell it was there. After the first week of taking it I noticed that I didn’t have the tired and drained out feeling while working. I felt more focused and had a lot of energy. I feel like I am ready to work every time I go in to work without slow dragging. I also noticed before using it I was getting a sore throat but after the 3rd day of using it my soar throat was gone. That’s why I am giving it 4 stars it really does work it gives you energy and help you to stay focused and help my soar throat. I took away a star because the taste of using without tea, but I will definitely purchase it when I run out and I do recommend it to others. Great job!

I have tried many shilajit brands and found this brand to surpass my expectations and I am glad I bought this. Bought my tin at moon juice venice and although the price there may be higher, supporting local business is also consciously guided. The Shilajit is a sticky, near-gummy, slightly gooey, pliable, tar-substance that seeps out of rocks during the summer times in the Himalayas, that means it shimmers from a distance. The owner explains so himself, and who is also totally cool.The taste is the equivalent to a strong bitter coffee: envision blue bottle coffee without sweeteners and slightly more bitter. This is Shilajit’s flavor.The Shilajit is known to have five grades and every grade varies by ethnographic regions. This Shilajit is at an altitude of over 16000 ft, that means it has very little contact with animals and other invasive creatures, and is pure source. Shilajit is documented to contain over 85 trace minerals, di-benzo pyrones, some vitamins, oils, and active enzymes. It goes through purification and is always tested for pathogens and other contaminants: those results are always impressively clean.The Shilajit is 10g (grams) about the size of a small play-doh clay or two grapes put together, and is packaged in clear BPA free, lab quality plastic container. If you think about it, HDPE containers are not known for leaching as other generic plastic containers. My experience so far with Upakarmas’ Shilajit has been amazing.Firstly, I really like the fact that Upakarmas’ Shilajit is responsibly sourced. The company seems to have a very good relationship with the indigenous Himalayans/Sherpas who have been hand collecting this shilajit for hundreds of years. Compared to other shilajit companies, like PurBlack, Dabur, etc – their product is essentially mass produced, and as a result, it is almost certainly not fair trade.Although LBH’s shilajit may be slightly more expensive, I support this company because it is fair trade – and there is no exploitation in the harvesting of this product. After talking with Upakarmas via email, it became obvious that they have tremendous pride and respect for their shilajit and the traditions surrounding it.Personal experience:Immediately upon opening the shilajit, it became evident that I was in possession of something extremely potent – a true “ancient panacea”. The aroma is so complex, and densely vegetative. It almost smells like a living incense – it intoxicating, and I enjoy just having the smell linger around my room.The taste is powerful, rich, and smokey. While it is generally recommended to mix with water or some sort of liquid, I have been consuming it directly under my tongue, simply because I enjoy the complexities of the taste so much. It tastes a bit like a strangely medicinal extra dark chocolate.As for effects- I usually notice a strong surge of energy within ~30 minutes of consuming my pea-size amount. It is a natural and balanced stimulation, a bit like drinking a strong pot of sencha green tea. As with many people who are interested in natural al remedies, I have been reading, hearing about Shilajit & its touted benefits. But I was unsure about consuming due to fear of getting adulterated substance or any weird chemicals in my system.I was drawn towards this product due to lot of positive press as well as where it is sourced from. I wanted to get shilajit which is sourced from Himalayan region as it has been used for hundreds if not thousands of years in Indian society & in Ayurveda. I am not sure about Shilajit sourced from anywhere else in the world. This is my opinion, you may have yours. I am hoping the great Indian sages didn’t travel half way around the world to dig out supply of this elixir for their Maharaja but stayed local :-)I have been taking it various different ways, under the tongue or with warm water, with or without honey etc. I have gotten used to a very unique test & it is growing on me. It is hard to quantify the benefits, but I do experience something happening for better, I am experiencing it, effect is subtle & gradual. I do feel just a little bit better every day. I know this sounds cliché but I do feel more aware, alert & calm.I have been taking it only for few weeks so I don’t know if all the wonderful claims will come true but so far it has not made me kick myself for spending some serious money for what looks like a small mud cake.I hope to continue taking it for a while, I will definitely keep you posted if I sprout wings or can run marathon backwards on one foot 🙂 but I will be just as happy if I keep feeling better.The negative: The price, it is tad expensive. I tried Upakarmas Authentic Shilajit for the first time about 3 weeks ago and felt its effects as a natural pick me up almost instantly. I felt focused and stimulated, intellectually and creatively, the very first day I tried it.I started taking Shilajit twice a day by mouth, either dissolved under the tongue or melted in a special tea (a pea sized amount of Shilajit stirred at the bottom of a mug of hot chai tea with honey, cream, and turmeric). Over the past three weeks, I’ve been amazed at my increased ability to focus on my work as well as increased stamina and endurance for exercise. I am a 32-year old woman and since taking it I have noticed a profound difference in my daily meditation and hot yoga practice, and have been extremely productive at my creative work. I feel more clarity, focus, concentration, more desire to exercise, meditate and be vital, and almost no cravings for things that are unhealthy for me, like alcohol, nicotine and drugs.I definitely think there’s a spiritual quality to this substance, something magical about it.I do have to warn you of one side effect which I don’t mind at all– it’s reported to be a potent aphrodisiac, and I felt this firsthand as soon as I started taking it. I have somewhat challenged teeth & gums mostly. Periodontal disease kind of runs in my family though I do eat very, very clean etc as a holistic person. Anyway, I noticed 1 evening when I went to bed that I started to get a pain in 1 of my molars. It was like I could almost feel something coming on & thought “oh no.” 🙁 The next day I woke & the pain seemed to be increasing a bit. That evening – same thing more pain (it always seems worse at night), to the point that pressing on the corner of my tooth was very painful. I woke up in the middle of the night with a slight pounding of pain like a tooth ache. Even worse. The next day, even eating a tortilla chip or anything hard was difficult. I do not have dental insurance so this is always a big worry as money is all being put into my new business. Anyway, with pain increasing and me worrying, It came into my mind to start taking the little tin of shilajit that I had ordered a month before but hadn’t started using. I started very slowly with a tiny dosage and continued like that for a few days. After only 2 or 3 days max, the tooth pain had completely disappeared! I was able to eat on it, sleep with no problems etc. etc. It was “miraculous.” Personally, I feel that most likely I am lacking minerals which I feel many Americans are in their diet. But absorbable ones. I wanted to share my story because this product was and IS such a “god-send” literally. You know how bad tooth pain can be if you have ever experienced that. I have to say, it has made a huge difference in my health and my life since I started taking it. I’m a leukemia survivor with a lot of health problems resulting, chronic fatigue, chronic migraines, nerve pain, memory issues, digestive issues, all kinds of fun stuff, to the point where I was unable to do much of anything 90% of the time and was confined to the couch or bed a lot. Well I opened the little plastic flip box and took a whiff — it’s some potent smelling stuff. It kind of smells like tar, only, more “y”. One noticeable (but not really quantifiable) effect, for me, is a “smoothness” about the joints. This is not my first time taking shilajit, but it is the first taking Authentic Shilajit by Upakarma. The first impression is made by a very smooth consistency and texture of the resin. I really can not agree with people who claim that i smells and tastes bad. It actually does taste and smell very natural and mild. Reminds me of a pine forest in the Spring. As far as what it makes me feel, it is kind of like a being woken up in the morning by a cup of a very high quality white tea. It is bitter, but you get used to it… at first I dissolved the small amount in tea, however, I just take the small bit straight let it “melt” and wash it down with water or tea. I am waiting a couple more weeks to get blood work down, but I feel much more focused and confident. Before taking it I was a bit weary and I don’t feel that way. I also stopped drinking wine and don’t have the cravings for wine or certain foods like breads, etc. My husband started taking it also, he is using the other container I bought too! The taste and ritual of making Shilajit every morning also helped me to replace coffee entirely. I now drink a cup of shilajit 1-2 times each day instead of coffee. The jury is still out. I’ve been using it for two weeks. Will admit I was taken aback at the form (looks like a mini container of melted black licorice.) It’s pretty hard. The small plastic device for removing the suggested amount was less than effective so I’ve been using a nut pick, which works great. I dissolve it in a small amount of brewed tea. Very little, if any, taste. After a little more usage, I expect I’ll have a better fix on its efficacy.

While I’m not experienced with numerous Shilajit products, I can say I really like this one the best. I have tried this product and Pur Black and find this one to be more effective for me. It’s hard to articulate the effect on me but the most pronounced are mood lifting and mentally calming. I haven’t moved any mountains yet…but time will tell. Yes it’s pricey, but I believe you get what you pay for with Shilajit. I’m still playing with the best way to take it, so far I’m taking it with a small spoonful of raw honey, I’ve also placed some inside an empty gelatin resin and that seems to work as well. I will definitely buy again. I also take Ashwagandha and the two seem to pair together well.

Benefits of Shilajit are many, just do your own research on the Web to see that it’s a fantastic product. But most products advertised as authentic are not pure or worse are contaminated with heavy metals. I have tried many different Shilajits over the years from other well known companies, but Upakarma Shilajit is by far the gold standard. It’s much more potent than another famous brand. The company owner personally selects and acquires the product directly from the best source in a high altitude place of the Himalaya. No intermediates or third parties are involved.I have been using this product regularly for one year and the benefits far exceed my expectations. After taking several supplements for years and analyzing their benefits, compared to Upakarma none of them has had such awesome effect in my health.Benefits that I have obtained are clear mind, high energy the whole day, increased stamina and libido, faster recovery from workout, sense of well being and detoxification. But when you start taking Shilajit, benefits might not be immediate. Reaction will depend on your health condition. In my case, the motivation was to help detox heavy metals and to clear brain fog. First time I took it I had a burst of energy. But in the following days, I had headache instead. I decreased the dosage and gradually increased it to minimize the detox side effect. It worked but it took me one month of daily use to start getting the benefits. There are some ways that you can take it (mix it with milk, honey or ghee), but my preference is a tiny amount under the tongue on an empty stomach as a daily routine.

I think this made me stronger. I was having anxiety attacks and my minerals were getting depleted. I’m not sure what this did in my body, but when I started taking this I felt stronger and was physically stronger too. When I finally moved from my job, when I was moving furniture, I was picking up things that were heavy as hell when I first moved in. They were still heavy, but they felt way more manageable. And I didn’t even eat that much that day. Maybe it was the excitement of getting away from Ohio, but I believe this had a heck of a lot to do with it. I still have most of it and use it whenever I remember :P. Definitely a keeper though.

I have been using this continuous for approx a year and I love it. I put a small pea size piece in my coffee every morning. I use honey and organic cream in my coffee, so i dont taste it. It does have a strong smell and terrible taste, but diluting it in coffee works well for me. I was skeptical but realized after a couple of months my sleeping was so much better and my memory became much sharper. I was amazed. This stuff works. That being said, it takes a while and you must be consistent. And no I dont work for the company. Decided to try this authentic shilajit after going over detailed reviews of many different products. Having tried this for over 4 weeks now, I must say I’m impressed and I’m glad I chose this product.I’m not a big fan of chemical supplements and was looking for something natural to to help cope up with work stress and lack of energy. Since the last 2 weeks, I have noticed positive difference; I feel fresh at 3PM in office and I’m not totally tired by the time I come home around 7pm. I now except better results over the next 2-3 month time period.The product itself is sticky and was a little hard to take out of the plastic can initially but now I get the drill. I take one grain size with warm milk and dip it in till it’s fully dissolved; takes some time though. I was vary of the taste like other reviewers mentioned but I quite like it (to each their own). In half a glass of milk, I just feel some subtle smokiness and love the flavor. Yesterday I tried without the milk and it was ok took but I prefer with warm milk.It’s something you have to try if you’re over 30. There is no substitute for a healthy lifestyle but this definitely helps me feel fresher throughout the day.It’s a little expensive but will last up to 2 months. For me the important things are it being natural and the positive effect it has on me. Definitely worth a try.

However, I had to ask for an analysis of the amount of heavy metals it contained due to reports of shilajit products having unsafe levels of lead, arsenic, mercury, etc. They complied for the first batch I received.I would highly recommend this company include an analysis of the batch from which each tin of shilajit is taken with the order. As it stands, I will have to ask for the analysis separately. When they include the analysis, I will give the product 5 stars.Otherwise, the product has vastly improved my energy level and I find I only require a very little bit in my morning tea now.

Having tried this resin for 2 months, I can say that it is making a difference, in a positive way. Since I have many health issues (i.e. Fibromyalgia, Restless Leg Syndrome, both part of the larger issue of Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome which has been with me most of my life), I must say it is an ongoing process to constantly strive for better health. This Authentic Shilajit is having a positive effect. But it is also causing some side effects, probably due to realigning my body’s pathways, so to speak. I have had some nausea, dizziness and some exacerbations of symptoms from the issues I have been dealing with. Dealing with these, I decrease the dose of Shilajit and go up when the symptoms clear. Or stop it for a day. I am extremely sensitive to all kinds of meds, supplements, chemicals etc… But I have managed to push through these reactions (they almost feel like “detox”) and am now able to take more Shilajit. I feel better now and certainly have more energy. Again, it is a process for me and I have to take it slow or it will be too much for my body to handle. In general I feel better. I will continue to take it and see how I feel as time goes on.As of now I am pleased with the results. It is difficult to say if some of these negative symptoms are from a “clearing” or more really a bad reaction to Shilajit itself. Here is where I have to be cautious and take it slow, know when to push through and when to back off. So far I have been able to move forward with greater energy and feeling better all around. I guess you could say: “Every day in every way I am getting better and better” in very small doses.

Even though Pureblack site insists that there is no difference in the raw material, Himalayan in my opinion is better and more potent. So, 0:1, Pureblack is down.Authentic is twice the price. 1:1.Taste (you won’t buy it for taste, but still): Authentic is better. Pureblack is a tad rough. 1:2.Packaging: Authentic is packaged in clear plastic (almost silicon-like) box, which placed inside a tin. Spatula is supplied (plastic as well).Pureblack is packaged as expensive, high-end cosmetics. Glass jar, but no spatula. On the negative – Pureblack uses paper/foil cap line. I have been using the Shilajit for about 3 weeks now and I really love what it is doing for my mind. I find that I am in a better mood, I can concentrate longer, and don’t get any brain fog in the afternoon. I read some disclosures about the smell and the taste being very overwhelming, but it was not offensive at all. The texture is very thick, gooey and tar-like, the smell reminds me of the woods after it rains. The taste right out of the container on your tongue is bitter, but I dissolve a little ball of the Shilajit in warm water and it makes a really flavorful tea-like drink. I do kind of fight with the little plastic container to get it open, but I have found that if I set my mug of hot water on top of the container to cool a little, the warmth will soften the Shilajit and make it easier to pull out with the little scoop that is included. I received this product in exchange for my honest review, but would definitely need this in my routine and will be purchasing again.

I used to buy Authentic Shilajit from Lotus Blooming Herbs because I read very good reviews about it but when I tried thisFresh Authentic & Purest Himalayan shilajit I was very impressed with the level of quality and customer support and its much better than Lotus Blooming Herbs which is also pure but comparatively low quality product. From my personal experience this is very good shilajit. I feel much better since I started taking it about two months ago. My energy levels are way up and I can do my exercise without any problems, which is a big plus for me. I take it with a table spoonful of extra virgin olive oil and a teaspoon of organic raw honey, this way I don’t have to deal with the unpleasant taste and some how I see better results. The rumors ranged from Immune booster, mental rejuvenation, organic viagra etc. but never tried it till I started working in the US. I felt lazy, tired, drained of energy, stressed, confused, unhappy and many more negativities that were making me unhealthy overall. Using this has obviously changed that, hence I’m taking out time to write this review but I wanted to know more. I decided to send a query to the person behind the scenes. I was able to contact the person running the show. After speaking to him on whatsApp, I was astonished to know the process behind this amazing natural enhancer. He explained to me the A-Z of this process. Strangest thing I found was that shilajit reacts differently depending on the way consumed or with what it’s being consumed with. If you take it with pure honey and garlic, it specifically enhances male & female libido and drive. Taking with organic milk targets the immune system. However, any way you take it, the best results are achieved when taken on an empty stomach, not eating for atleast an hour after and avoiding spicy or oily foods. Second disappointment…. when I did finally get it open …. what a mess. Shiliajit all over the rim lid and the part that the lid screws/twist/turns on too. I diligently tried to not waste nor contaminate the product as I cleaned it trying to save as much of it as I could. I lost a bit of it 🙁 I noticed some pictures from those reviewing this product and maybe I should have taken pictures of the mess because it was more worse than the pictures others had taken and put in thier review. The third disappointment … after I tried cleaning it I realized it was not going to come clean enough to put the lid back on and use the product in its original container. So all of it is now in a container that has flat walls (and with a lid that won’t stick) so that I can easily take out a pea size serving. The jar it comes in should not have a ridge/lip because it is hard to get the shiliajit out of it. This is messy difficult stuff to work with and some of us don’t want to waste any of it. The fourth disappointment…. (I’ve tried three other shiliajit) this shiliajit is odd in flavor and its gooooooeyness is really hard to work with and it feels as though extra niacin (B3) has been added to it. My face flushes and I get hot all over. I landed in the ICU a little over a year ago because of mineral shortages (who would have known one could do that) so I take 15 different minerals (b3 niacin and niacinamide being part of the 15) each day and thought shiliajit would take care of the other minerals lacking in my body and diet. So far I have found one shiliajit that works really well. This not being the one. Anyway I love shiliajit But not this one. The reason three stars is because I like that they are testing this product (hopefully true) and seem to be using this product to help their community out by selling this to the world. Also for a while I plan on using it just to see if the product is better than it seems to have been in the last five days. If it is I will change part of my review:)

Since I started taking shilajit my menstrual cycle has gone from a very concerning heavy bleeding (the kind where you cannot leave the house for 2 days) lasting 5 days long to a lighter flow that only lasts 3 days. Sorry if some people don’t want to read about that, but it is significant in so far as health issues. I have read and believe this stuff to be high in minerals. I have taken many different kinds of iron in the past and I have not had this effect on my menstrual cycles. Shilajit, warms me up, and seems to help with stress. I dip a butter knife and pull out a small glob. I sometimes eat it off of the knife and other times dissolve it into my coffee. I take it in the morning and I sleep better at night. I don’t necessarily notice an increase in energy like some people do, but I feel that it improves my digestion. I will continue to take it off and on to continue the benefits on my monthly cycle and if I notice I’m not sleeping well without it.I also think it was a contributing factor in me not getting the flue the last time everyone in my family came down with it except me.The seller of this particular brand is very quick and responsive to emails. They are helpful and eager to please. I’ve decided to take this a long with vitamin B12 in hopes to improve my energy and overall health. Anyone who is trying to decide if they want to try this I would say, I do believe it can improve your health. I believe it provides nutrients and over time can build up your health. I’ve been taking a little over two months and I just feel better. I take each morning with goat milk and honey. My energy levels have gone from 3 to about a 7. I’m working out daily and no longer feel exhausted after chasing a 2 year old all day…it’s just nice that the fatigue doesn’t set in like before. I’ll get my blood work done soon and I’m curious to see the outcome. I’ve always been low in iron and vitamin D no matter what supplements and food I consume. I still take vitamin d, k, and enzymes daily and they seem to be working better. I’ll update in about a month after my blood work results are back. Up to now, I’ve tried this and another highly-recognised shilajit brand. What I find confusing about this one is its texture. This shilajit is much softer and even floppy. I don’t keep it in the fridge, but I do the same with the other brand and that one it’s much harder. I am not an expert, but I’ve read that in the processing, shilajit with a high water content tends to be softer, while a highly concentrated (harder) product is a sign of better quality and properties. Sometimes, producers add more water in order to maximise benefits. Anyway, I am just using this brand for a couple of weeks, so I can’t say much about the results until now, although I feel good and even powered while consuming it, to be totally sincere.Update: After writing this review, I was contacted by the producer. This was my second order and I absolutely love this Shilajit! I’ve tried the Lotus Blooming Herbs and PurBlack and they were both good, but this just feels more potent and therefore seems to last longer. The day I received my first order I remember opening the jar to have a whiff, and was stunned by potency and rich earthy organic smell. The other brands I’ve tried were no comparison. My son was there and thought I was losing it just breathing in the aroma for probably way too long. I gave it to him to sniff and even he was impressed. He has Crohn’s disease and fulvic and humid acid are very helpful. After making a small cup of tea for him, he said later it really gave him energy and made him feel good.To stretch this out as much as possible, I’d make some concentrated tea with it, keep it in a half gallon glass container and just add it to my drinks daily. I had bought this shilajit and was using it internally but the results while noticeable were not amazing. I had the well talked about skin improvements, the healing of my cuts quickened, but I knew it could do more.That’s when I remembered that shilajit is supposed to open the cellular membranes and make compounds absorb better. I’m sure the FDA would disapprove but I was once legally blind without glasses and can now see well enough to get around in day to day life.Generally I’ve found the best way to take it internally is to put a rice to pea sized amount under the tongue and hold it for as long as possible. There was a note in it with directions to use. the container great; I have had no issues using. I have ordered this to develop my over all health. I have received it in 2 weeks, all the way from Pakistan to Virginia (which is a nice thing). The taste and smell was not great but that is expected. It been 5 weeks now, so I thought of sharing the effects of it:My body was feeling warmer than the normal after taking this, I was sweating sometime in my work place, when everyone else felt the temperature at office is normal. And within a week I got fever and and cough and it stayed for 2 weeks. I just stayed on the course hoping it is a process of cleansing my body. I was occasionally taking some over the counter fever reducers during that time. After fully dissolution of few drops the color is golden yellow. Fire(burn) test not done so far. But the product (Shilajit) seems to be genuine from dissolution in water test. Will update after fire/burn test also. So overall, it is highly recommended. A little expensive- but- Value for money.

I’d tried Upakarmas Chaywanprash and was impressed with how I felt, so I gave this a go.From the very first dosage, I felt a tingling and awakeness that I’d never had before! In the last 3 days that I’ve been using it, I’ve had unusual demands on my time and little sleep but I’ve felt awake and focused the entire time. I normally drink a pot of tea first thing in the morning and today at 11:30am, 1/2 the pot remains untouched and forgotten. That’s incredible for me!I’d say this is well worth the investment if realigning yourself to a state of natural energy, health and aliveness is your goal.

I was new to these supplements as heard about Shilajit but never used it. I am giving a detailed review based on my personal experience.I used 3 Shilajits in last 3 months. First one was Banyan Botanicals, 2nd was Upakarma and 3 rd was Pur Black. With banyan Botanicals as they did not give any details about the source and the analysis of their Shilait on their website so I became little skeptical. But after strated using Banyan Shilajit, I found a shift in my mood and I bcame more active and jolly in nature. 2nd month I was on Upakarma Shilajit. Very thick , horse manure like smell and peculier taste . I felt energetic, and one more thing what I noticed my hair started turning balck ( I have pre mature grey hair ), not all so do not expect miracles but you can see the effect. Them as I was going through other Shilajit reviews and Pur Black got maximum good reviews with a tag that this is the best. Well, I must say Pur black is more gluey, stronger horse manure smell , stronger taste . mixes easily but NO advanagtes over Upakarma or Banyan. May be this was the third Shilajit I tried but no distict advantages over other two. May be if Pur Black is your first Shilajit then you can experience more benefits but in my case I will ran this 3rd.My sincere suggestion based upon my experienceIf you have limited budget try Banyan Botanicals Shilajit as this is a very reputable company.If you can afford, go ahead with Upakarma shilajit in stead of Pur Black as Pur Black is little more expensive.I have no medical problems and in goof helath , for me Shilajit worked as mood enhancer , helped in good sleep and in stressful situations I found myself calm. But do not expect miraculous results that you will become superhuman or anything. Yes, these supplements give us all the minerals but good food , regular exercise, meditation and reading good literature are more important. So enjoy Shilajit but more expensive does not mean more potent , this is the lesson. Do your through research before you buy anything.

This is the real deal as far as I can tell from trying another shilajit resin available on amazon. I will be trying a third resin soon as well but had an immediate effect after my first use of Upakarma ‘s shilajit which was strong and positive. The other product I tried is more refined and tastes better if possible as I take it straight under the tongue but loses out on the strength power and desirable effects of the authentic shilajit. I cannot say enough good things about this Shilajit! I first tried it several months ago after needing to get my health back on track. I’d been thru a very stressful year and my body was way off– exhausted all the time, my hormones were out of wack– and after about 2 weeks of taking this everything started to seem normal again. My energy levels stabilized and my period was back on it’s regular cycle, which for about 6 months had been all over the place. I take a tiny amount under my tongue 2-3x a day and my body will even seem to crave it if I don’t take it. I know the taste can be strong for some, so people I’ve given it to may take in in some hot water to dilute, but I’m fine taking it straight. I’ve researched other brands and this is the only company I’ve found that has credible sourcing, so I would not take my chance with any other brand of Shilajit! Do yourself a favor and buy this product!!

I was in disbelief that this jar full of goo that looks, smell and taste like tar, actually gives you more energy but wow, it DOES! I am usually constantly tired and have to drink 2 energy drinks throughout the day to have any energy so I was willing to try anything just to feel like I could do anything. The 1st time I tried it, I instantly felt wide awake but without all of the extra anxiety and jitteriness that comes with caffeine. I’m not sure if this helps with iron levels but I feel a whole lot better from just a small drop of this into a small cup of warm water. Definitely recommend

I can easily tell a difference when I use the shilajit. Awake and alert all day with no jitters or speedy feelings. When I first started I took some in the afternoon a few days and every time I did I had trouble falling asleep. Take it early in the morning and mix it in your coffee.
